Funeral Services for Newton Shaffer to be Held Monday
NEVADA -- Funeral services for Newton Shaffer, 69, resident of the Nevada community for 38 years, who died at his country home Thursday morning after a lingering illness, will be conducted from the Bishop Funeral home here at 2 p. m. Sunday. Burial will be in the Nevada cemetery by the side of his wife, who died four years ago.
He is survived by four children, Chloe Williams and Lydia Lounsberry of Nevada, Clara Whitinger of Elma, and Arthur of Nevada. A brother, John I. Shaffer, of Topeka, Kan., two sisters Elizabeth Pendleton of Webster City and Emma Ellis of Chicago, 14 grand children and two great grandchildren also survive.
