Harriett Erickson, 76, of Maxwell, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at Rolling Green Village in Nevada.

Harriett was born January 10, 1938, in Maxwell to Harry and Mary (Randol) Troup. She attended Maxwell School from kindergarten until eleventh grade, then moved to Nevada and graduated in 1957. Harriett was united in marriage to Dean Erickson on August 27, 1965, in Nevada. She was a devoted member of the Maxwell United Methodist Church, the Legion Auxiliary in Maxwell and had served on the Maxwell City Council.

Harriett enjoyed sewing, games shows, word searches and sports, especially Iowa State and the St. Louis Cardinals. Her family was most important to her, and she cherished the time she had with them.

Harriett is survived by her children, Chris (Shelly) Troup of Center Point, Iowa, Mary (Leo) Pierce of Colo, and Matthew Erickson of Maxwell; her brothers, Bill Troup of Center Point, Iowa and Ray (Sheryl) Troup of Maxwell; her sisters, Kay (Dave) Zeiser of Maxwell and Beth Griffith of Des Moines; her three grandchildren, Travis Fields, Corey Breer and Jesse Troup. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2003; her parents; and two sisters, Maureen Troup and Jolene Mathis.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2014, at Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014, also at the funeral home. Harriett will be laid to rest in the Peoria Cemetery in rural Maxwell.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Maxwell United Methodist Church in loving memory of Harriett.

Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell is handling arrangements.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Alexander and the team at McFarland Clinic along with all the staff at Rolling Green Village for the loving care provided for Harriett.
