Vera LaVerne Thomsen was born on January 3, 1914 in Cass County, Iowa to Chris and Anna (Larsen) Thomsen. She married Lawrence R. Jacobson on September 29, 1935.
Vera lived her entire life in the Story City and the Gilbert area. She enjoyed sewing, square dancing and traveling, and was an avid game player at cards and dominos and seeing her family.
Vera LaVerne Jacobson, 100, died on January 14, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.
Vera is survived by her children: Lloyd (Brenda) Jacobson of Lancaster, PA; Alan (Cathy) Jacobson of Seattle, WA and Cathryn (James) Ahrenholz of Mt. Vernon, IL; and son-in-law Dave Hansen of Ames; seven grandchildren: Marilyn Switzer, Karen Ahrenholz, Sara Jacobson, Caroline Hartin, Scott Hansen, Todd Hansen, and Marissa Jacobson and seven great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Lawrence on July 13, 2011; daughter, Cynthia Hansen, infant granddaughter; brother, Clifford Thomsen and sister, Lucille Hylbak.
