Evvie was born on September 6, 1912 in Ellsworth to Otto and Winnie (Lakin) Christiansen. She married Lester Severeide on Oct. 25, 1933. He died in 1973. She worked at the Story Café, Story City Maid Rite and Iowa State Food Service.

Evvie M. Severeide, 101, of Story City, died January 5, 2014 at Bethany Manor in Story City.

Evvie is survived by a son-in-law, Junior Thrasher, of Ames; a granddaughter, Sue Price, of Gilbert; four great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Shirley Thrasher; granddaughter, Sharon Helling; three brothers; and five sisters.
