Stella Colwell, Colonial Manor resident, dies Friday evening

ZEARING --Stella (Wayne) Colwell of Colo died Friday* evening at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Zearing following a 1 1/2 year illness. She was 89.

Services will be held from the Ryan Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14. Rev. James Louk will officiate with burial in the Nevada Cemetery.

Born Aug. 11, 1887 in Cresco to George and Violetta Woodward Buchanan, Colwell had lived in Story County since 1940. She married Wayne Colwell on June 30, 1961 in Ames and was a member of the Methodist Church. She operated a popcorn stand in Nevada for several years.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne; one daughter, Marian Hess of Portland, Ore. and two grandsons, Robert Hess of Oslo, Norway and David Hess of Statesville, N.C. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.
