C. E. Callahan, Maxwell, died

Charles E. Callahan, 78, rural Maxwell, died about 7:30 p.m., yesterday at the Story County Hospital in Nevada. He had just been a patient there four days.

He had farmed and was a member of the Nevada police force for 12 years until he retired in 1955.

He is survived by his wife, Lena; a son, Charles, Jr., Ames; four daughters, Mrs. Claude Stoneburner, Woodward; Mrs. Arch Stoneburner, Slater; Mrs. Ray Kabrick, Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Ray Prescott, Nevada; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The body is lying in state at Ryan Funeral Home, Nevada, where funeral arrangements are pending.
