G. I. APPLEGATE
G. I. Applegate, 61, native son of Story county, died at his home at Northwood Thursday* afternoon, after an illness of several months. A funeral service was held at Northwood Saturday and the body was brought to the home of his brother, Vint I. Applegate, south of Nevada. Sunday afternoon at 2:00 a service was held and burial was in the Nevada cemetery, Rev. J. O. Simon, pastor of Memorial Lutheran church was in charge of the rites.
Ira Applegate, a son of Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Applegate, Nevada pioneers was born on a farm near Nevada and this was his home until about 17 years ago, when he bought a farm near Northwood, and there he had since lived. Previous to going north he had for some years lived in Nevada and was in charge of the local standard Oil distribution.
He leaves besides his wife, who was Miss Alma Jensen, his mother, Mrs. L. B. Applegate of Nevada, a brother, V. I. Appelgate of southwest of Nevada, and a sister Ada, now Mrs. Carl Banks of Tipton. One brother, Wilbur Applegate, died about a year ago.
