Miss Kirby, Beardshear School Teacher, Dies

Marguerite A. Kirby, 44, died very suddenly at 11 p. m. Wednesday after suffering a heart attack at the Kirby farm northeast of Ames on Route 1.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p. m. at the Adams Chapel with the Rev. Robert Pinnell of the First Methodist church in charge. Burial will be in the Ames Municipal cemetery.

Miss Kirby had been a fourth grade teacher at Beardshear school in Ames since 1947. Prior to that she taught at Leon and Napier.

She was born April 2, 1910 at Urbana, Ill., and came to Story county with her parents at the age of one year. She attended North Grant school and was graduated from high school there. She went to Iowa State Teachers college and to Drake university.

Miss Kirby was a member of the First Methodist church, of the Soroptimist club and of the Ames town and Country Saddle club. She was secretary of the latter organization at the time of her death.

She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Ethel Kirby, and her brother, Tom, who reside at the Kirby farm. Also surviving is an aunt, Mrs. Nels Christensen of Ames. Her father, G. R. (Dick) Kirby, preceded her in dath on July 1, 1949.
