JOHN G. OPPEDAL

Funeral services for John G. Oppedal were held Wednesday in St. Petri Lutheran Church, Story City, at 2 p.m., r[receded by a brief service in the Sunset Home Chapel.

Pastor C. Strum officiated and Pastor Pernie C. Pederson also spoke.

Burial was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery. Pallbearers were Willie Egemo, Peter Millang, Joseph Cerne, Porter Vold, Haldor Hove and John Oppedal.

John G. Oppedal was born July 28, 1978, in Clear Lake township, Hamilton County, and died at the Story City Memorial Hospital on Aug. 6, at the age of 83 years and nine days. His parents, Guttorm and Ingeborg Oppedal, and four brothers preceded him in death.

Mr. Oppedal was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. In his youth, he attended th public and parochial schools of his community. On March 4, 1903, he was married to Britha Millang of Randall. For a number of years they farmed in the Stanhope and Ellsworth vicinities. In 1916, they moved to Story City. (Shortly after his wife's death in 1947, he moved to the Sunset Home and resided there until he was admitted to the hospital this summer. He was a patient there for six weeks.

Survivors are two brothers and three sisters: Isaac of Story City and Imbert of Jewell; Mrs. John Hove and Bertha Oppedal both at the Sunset Home and Mrs. Louis (Alice) Danielson of Story City.
