Flossie Pierce
Aug. 6, 1916 to March 11, 1999Flossie Pierce, 82 of Nevada died of complication of diabetes Thursday, March 11, at Story County Long Term Care in Nevada, where she had been a resident since 1991.
She was born Aug. 6, 1916, in Fordland, Mo., to George and Ruth (Bennitham) Hopper. She was a longtime resident of Nevada and married Richard Pierce on March 28, 1933, in Des Moines. She retired from Donnelley Marketing and enjoyed upholstering furniture.
Survivors include three daughters, Ruth Yocum of Eagle Rock, Mo., Sandra Corbin and Beverly Sickels, both of Nevada; two sons, Robert Pierce and Alvin Pierce, both of Des Moines, 31 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard, in 1976; two sons, James and Raymond Pierce; a daughter, Donna Peterson; two grandsons; a great-grandson; a brother and a sister.
Memorial graveside services were held Tuesday, March 16, at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery with Dr. Fred C. Danforth officiating. A memorial fund has been established. Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada, handled arrangements.
