Richard Benson rites Saturday

Funeral services for Richard L. Benson, 53, a Nevada businessman, will be Saturday at 2 a.m. from the Campus Baptist Church in Ames with the Rev. Paul Tassell and the Rev. Harold Scholes officiating.

Burial will be in Nevada Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada until 11 a.m. Saturday.

A memorial fund has been established at the Campus Baptist Church.

Mr. Benson who had been ill for the past three months, underwent surgery in Des Moines last week. He died Tuesday at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Evald Benson, Boone, he was born on Nov. 12, 1916. He was married to Rosalena Hill June 30, 1939 at Boone. Mr. Benson was a member of the Campus Baptist Church, Ames, a trustee of the church board, a member of the Nevada Rotary Club.

Survivors include his wife Rolalena; his stepmother, Mrs. Evald Benson, Boone; two sons Robert E. Benson, St. Louis and David A. Benson, a ministerial student at Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Mo.; a daughter, Patricia A. Benson, Nevada; two grandchildren; a brother Robert J. Benson, 1713 Northwestern Ave and a sister, Mrs. Donald Corrick, Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother and an infant sister.
