Mrs. Allan Purkhiser Dies at Waverly; Funeral Here Friday

Mrs. Allan Purkhiser, 78, longtime resident of Nevada, died at a hospital in Waverly Tuesday* at 11 p.m. from heart trouble. She had been in the hospital for about a week.

Funeral rites for Mrs. Purkhiser will be held at the Morfoot Funeral Home Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Rev. Jos. M. Kennedy of Central Presbyterian church in charge. Burial will be int he Nevada cemetery by the side of her husband, who died in June, 1930.

Mrs. Purkhiser had been living at Waverly with her daughter, Mrs. Grant Edgerley and family for the past 20 years and it was there that the husband died in 1930.

The deceased was born at Seneca, Ill., Oct 16, 1862, the daughter of Zebe Morgan. She came out to Nevada as a girl, and it was there that she was married Allan Purkhiser, only son of a pioneer Nevada family.

The continued to make their home in Nevada and here they raised their family, consisting of one son, M. R. Purkhiser of Nevada; Lila, now Mrs. Grant Edgerley of Waverly, and Emily, now Mrs. Charles Wilson of Des Moines.

Mr. and Mrs. Purkhiser went to Waverly about 20 years ago and had since made their homes with the daughter.

Mrs. Purkhiser is well remembered by the older residents of Nevada as a woman of tine character, home loving, industrious; a kind wife and mother, and a helpful neighbor and friend.
