Tom Fisher Dies Here After Long Illness

Tom Fisher, 66, died at his home in an apartment over 1108 Main street at 1:15 a.m. today, after an illness covering a period of eight months, during which time he had suffered from intestinal troubles.

Funeral rites will be held on Monday afternoon at the Nevada Evangelical church with Rev. Theo. Yackel in charge. Burial will be in the Nevada cemetery.

In the midst of his long illness, Mrs. Fisher was injured in a fall and was for some time confined to Iowa sanitarium and is n[ow] spending the end of the se[?] month of her invalidism in a[?] at the family apartment, w[here] the parents have been cared [for] by the only daughter Mrs. [Opal] Gingles, assisted by Mrs. [?] Banks.

The deceased was born [Wil]liam Thomas Fisher, a son of [Wil]liam and Mary Fisher, in Co[le] county, Missouri, June 6, 1873.

Forty years ago he was m[ar]ried at Humansville, Mo., to M[iss] Martha Poole and they came [at] once to Story county in Iowa [and] their home had always been [in] vicinity of Nevada or Am[es] with the exception of one ye[ar] spent in Kanssas.

Three children were born to them. A daughter Sylvia Marie died at the age of 6 years, and they are survived by the son Roy and daughter Mrs. Opal Gingles, both of Nevada and 2 grandchildren. He also leaves two sisters and two brothers, they being Mrs. John Jordan, J. D. Fisher and Mrs. Emma Redman all of Winfield, Kansas, and John D. Fisher of California.

Mr. Fisher had farmed the most of his time in Story county although of later years he had lived in and been employed at various vocations in Nevada where he had a wide acquaintance and was well respected.
