Bernita Irene Rains 91, of Nevada died at Story County Senior Care in Nevada on Wednesday, November 20, 2013. A Memorial Service will be held from Chet Ryan Mortuary on Monday, November 25, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor David Burling officiating. Burial of the cremains will follow in the Roland Cemetery.

Bernita was born on July 30, 1922 to William H. and Ellen S. (Sorenson) Childers in Story County Iowa. After graduating from High School, she was united in marriage to Leslie "Frank" Rains on August 19, 1940. She was employed by Nevada Poultry and Collegiate Pacific Manufacturing. She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time outdoors and camping.

Bernita is survived by her daughter; Francis (Don) Davis of Nevada; one grandson Duane Davis; one great-grandson Eric Davis; and one brother LaVerne Childers of Roland.

Bernita was preceded in death by her husband Leslie "Frank" Rains on December 29, 1984, her parents, son, Gary Lee Rains; grandson Dennis Ray Davis, four brothers and three sisters.
A Memorial Fund has been established in loving memory of Bernita.

Chet Ryan Mortuary has been entrusted with the care of Bernita and her family.
