From Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care obituary, Ames, Story County, Iowa:

Verna Peterson, age 83, died on December 10, 2013 at Bethany Life Communities in Story City. A gathering of friends and family will be Sunday, December 15, 2013 at 4:30 - 5:30 at Timberland Village 725 Timberland Drive in Story City. A celebration of life funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 16, 2013 at Bethany Life Communities Chapel 212 Lafayette Story City.
Verna was born in Pomeroy, Iowa July 14, 1930, the daughter of Harold and Lucille Rouze. She graduated from Ames High School in 1948. She married Wayne Peterson on June 11, 1950 in Ames.
Verna was an active homemaker. She was the love of Wayne's life, perfect mother to her children, lovingly adored by her grandchildren, and thoroughly enjoyed her great-grandchildren. After Wayne retired the couple moved to Ivey Ranch Country Club in Thousand Palms, CA. They lived there for 20 years in the desert returning to Story City a few years ago. She was a member of Ames Golf and Country Club, Bridge Clubs, avid golfer, enjoyed Iowa State football and basketball games, longtime member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames, while in California, Hope Lutheran Church in Palm Desert, and when they returned to Ames, Hope Lutheran Church in West Des Moines.

Verna is survived by her husband, Wayne Peterson of Story City, a brother, Dale (Pam) Rouze of Dallas, TX, her children, Rick (Susan) Peterson of Charlotte, NC, Linda (Steve) Little of Denver, CO, Mark (Barbara) Peterson of Ames, grandchildren, Michael Peterson (Maggi Gentle) of Ames, Melissa (Graham) Fuller of Johnston, Erik (Allison) Peterson of Charlotte, NC, Sarah Peterson also of Charlotte, NC, five great grandchildren, Jakob Peterson Ethan Roberts, Dylan Roberts, Peyton Roberts, Gabriel Fuller, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one sister.
