From Nevada Journal April 4, 1950

In the death of Hans F. Anderson at 1 a. m. Friday morning, March 31, Nevada and Story county loses one of her highly esteemed citizens, a man who was honest and upright in all his dealings, a devoted husband and father and a fine neighbor and friend.

Born on a farm north of Nevada, May 17, 1876, son of Jorgen and Maria Anderson, he had been a resident of Story county his entire life. For the past 31 years the family home has been in Nevada.

On July 7, 1898, he was united in marriage to Matilda Mathison of Nevada, who with the following children, survives him: A. M. Andersen, Chicago, Ill., Mrs. W. W. Purcell of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Harle J. Bishop of Des Moines, and Kermit J. Anderson of Nevada. Six grandchildren also survive.

He also leaves one brother, Pete Anderson of Portland, Oregon and two sisters, Mrs. N. E. Johnson and Mrs. A. P. Johnson of Des Moines.

His parents and sister Minnie preceded him in death.

In Attendance

Among those in attendance at the last rites were the following from Des Moines: Mr. and Mrs. Conn, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Wallace, Mr. and Mrs. I. R. Myers, Mr. and Mrs. N. E. Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Christensen, Mrs. Ralph Amend, Mrs. Don D. Davidson, Mrs. Wm. B. Chase, Jr., Mrs. M. C. Scott, Mrs. Harvey Handford and Mrs. Robert B. Patrick.

From Ames were Mr. and Mrs. Arhtur Mathison, Mrs. and Mrs. Elmer Johnson, Emil Mathison, Mrs. Martinus Mathison and Leota. Among others in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Tilmer Tjelmeland of Roland, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Pelzman of Kelley, A. O. Buland of Cambridge, Verl Sammons of Grinnell and possibly others.
