From Nevada Journal March 31, 1948

Olaf Christopher Davidson, oldest son of Mrs. Hans Davidson of 1613 4th street, was born Aug. 22, 1903 in Nevada and passed away March 18, 1948 in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 44 years, 6 months and 25 days. He was baptized in the Lutheran church at Nevada when an infant.

Olaf attended the Nevada schools until the age of 12, when he was stricken with infantile paralysis. He was crippled and in a wheel chair for 28 years. He was on the maid street of Nevada for those years in the summertime selling candy and gum. Four years ago, he suffered a stroke and since has been bedfast.

On account of the ill health of his mother, who for all these years had given him her tenderest care, one year ago he was taken to the Ruth Grayson Nursing Home in Des Moines, where on Tuesday, March the 16th, he suffered another stroke resulting in pneumonia which caused his death on Thursday, March 18.

Olaf is survived by his mother, Mrs. Hans Davidson, two brothers, Carl at home in Nevada Albert, section foreman at Calamus, and one sister, Margaret Bappe of Ames. Also one nephew and four nieces, Larry, Carol, Betty, Violet and Jo Bappe of Ames.

Preceding him in death were his father who passed away in 1934, a sister Harriett who passed away in 1930 and a brother Herman who passed away in 1910 when just an infant.
