Last rites were held for Leona Day Scott in Nevada, Monday, August 20th at the Christian Tabernacle, with Rev. Charles Lemmong of St. Petersburg, Florida officiating, assisted by Rev. C.B. Loper from Des Moines and Rev. G.M. Vriezelaar of Waterloo.
Pall bearers were Raymond Day, Maurice Wycoff, Carl Switzer, Richard Fatland, James Hines (Hynes), and Orville Backens. Mrs. Harry Sutherland sang two selections accompained by Mrs. Robert Wenig.
The beautiful floral tributes were cared for by Mrs. Leon Hall and Mrs. Leslie Knudson.
Interment was in the Nevada cemetery.
Leona Day was born April 5, 1917, to Mr.and Mrs. James Day. She was raised in the Shipley community and graduated from the Shipley schools with the class of 1934. Leona was united in marriage to Harold Scott in 1936 and to this union four children were born, Diane 12, Justine 10, Janet 7, and Donna 5.
She was a member of the Open Bible church in Waterloo until the family moved to Siloam Springs, Arkansas, where she was affiliated with the Church of God. She was a good Christian wife and mother, with many who loved her for her sweet and loving disposition.
She died August 16, 1951 at her home in Arkansas. She is survived by her husband, four daughters, Diane, Justine, Janet and Donna, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Day, two brothers Raymond and Jimmie and three sisters, Laurene Wycoff, Juanita Switzer and Ilo Mae Day
