Margery O. Hale
March 23, 1925 - August 10, 2013

Margery O. Hale, age 88, of Naples, Florida (formerly of Ames) died Saturday, August 10th at Naples Community Hospital in Naples, Florida. She had been battling a recurrence of breast cancer for four years. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, August 29th at Grandon Funeral Home in Ames. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 7 p.m. A graveside service with burial of the cremains will take place at Ames Municipal Cemetery on Friday, August 30th at 11 a.m.

Margery was born March 23, 1925 in Ames, Iowa to Harry A. and Addie B. (Crosswait) Osborne. She graduated from Ames High School. She moved to California after high school to work during World War II, where she met her first husband Albert Bornmueller. Margery and Al moved to Ames in the early 50's, where they raised their family. She married Harry W. Hale on September 7, 1985 and he preceded her in death in 2010.

Margery worked in the Federal Government in a variety of positions for 22 years culminating at the National Animal Disease Center in the Department of Agriculture in Human Resources. She retired in 1987. She then worked at Lutheran Social Services as a receptionist and secretary, retiring again in 1995. She also served as a funeral assistant at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames for many years. Margery served on many boards and committees. She served on the Advisory Council of Lutheran Social Services of Iowa, and in Florida, served on the Board of Directors of Windsor Place and in many other capacities for that condo association over the years.
Margery enjoyed family events and stayed very active. She loved dancing, playing tennis, and attending the theater and concerts. Margery loved fashion and was also known for her passion of shoes, with a special pair for every occasion. She was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church, American Legion Auxiliary, NARCUP, and NATFE.

Margery is survived by her children, Alan and Sally Bornmueller of Greer, SC, Gary and Colleen Bornmueller of Des Moines, IA, and Lisa (Bornmueller) and Antonio Dias of Downey, CA; her grandchildren Steven and Julie Dunn (Bornmueller) Birello and great-grand-daughter Cecilia Frances Birello, and Bryan Bornmueller and his wife, Ursula Murray Husted, of Minneapolis, MN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her siblings, Virginia Baker and Gene Osborne.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or City of Hope, Duarte, CA.
