Collision fatal to Ames man
A rural Ames man was killed instantly in a car-truck collision southeast of Ames Monday afternoon at a country road intersection.
Frank W. Kingsbury, 69, Route 2, died when he was thrown through the windshield of his truck about 3:40 p.m. Monday.
Truck, Car Collide
His truck collided with a car driven by Paul T. Fackler, 43, Rural Maxwell.
Kingsbury was going east at the intersection one mile east and a mile south of Ames while Fackler went north.
Fackler suffered head and face lacerations and a possible head concussion. He was treated and kept overnight at Mary Greeley Hospital.
Funeral service for Mr. Kingsbury have been Scheduled for Thursday at 1:30 p.m. from the Adams Funeral Home with Rev. Lawrence Beals officiation.
Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established. The body will lie in state at the funeral home.
Lifelong Resident
Mr. Kingsbury was born on a farm in Story County and was life-long resident of this area.
He was married to Birdie Brooks, Dec. 31, 1912, in Boone County. He was a member of the First Methodist Church and of the Modern Woodsmen of America.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Weldon of Boulder, Colo.; two daughters, Mrs. Julius Black of Ames and Roy Price of Monmouth, Ill.; a brother Verne of Boone and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Kingsbury of Ames and one sister, Mrs. Mabel Clark.
