Jewel Irene Hansen
Oct. 9, 1909 to Dec. 7, 1996

Jewel Irene Hansen, 87, of Nevada died of a stroke on Saturday, Dec. 7, at her home in Nevada.

She was born to Louis and Anna (Parson) McClellan in Texas on Oct 9, 1909. She graduated from Nevada High School in 1927.

She married George William Hansen on April 12, 1930 in Marshalltown. She lived as a homemaker and ws employed in the Story County Auditor's and Treasurer's office. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Nevada, Order of Eastern Star, the VFW Axilliary and a charter member of the Indian Creek Country Club. Her interest included bridge, volunteering at Rolling Green Village and staying active in the Nevada Senior Citizens Center.

Survivors include a son, William J. Hansen (and Pat) of Salem, Orel; a daughter, Linda L. Chuba (and David) of Poland, Ohio; and three grandsons, Jeffrey Hansen, John Hansen and Michael Chuba.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George in 1985 and one brother.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 10 at First United Methodist Church with Pastor James King officiating. Burial was in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nevada Senior Citiznes Center or the charity of your choice. Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada, handled arrangements.
