Ronald Ralph Heintz, 80, of Osage Beach, MO passed away in Springfield, MO on Thursday, August 8, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Ron was born November 14, 1932 to Edward and Minnie (Hanson) Heintz in rural Nevada. He attended Shipley School and graduated in 1950 from Nevada High School. After graduation Ronald worked for the FBI in Washington, D.C and later served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper. After returning from the army he married Jayne Manley on November 24, 1956 at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church at Nevada.

Ron owned the Appliance Service Center in Nevada for several years before moving to Tucson, AZ for 3 years. They then returned to Nevada where he worked at R. H Donnelly Corp. for 15 years. In 1976, Ron and Jayne moved to Osage Beach, Mo where they purchased Wayward Wind Resort, which they operated for 27 years.

Ron and Jayne enjoyed camping and traveling in their motorhome and spending time with their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Ron was an avid collector of old cars, model trains, and old toys. His favorite past time was taking the grandkids for ice cream in his 63 ½ Ford Galaxy, fondly referred to as the "ice cream car".

Ron is survived by his loving wife, Jayne of Osage Beach, MO; daughters, Vicki (Mike) Shaw of Davenport, Denise (Jim) Mathisen of Springfield, MO, Rhonda (Brian) Sykes of Nevada, and son Brett (Terri) Heintz of Springfield, MO; twelve grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Helen (Robert) DeFayette of Gettysburg, PA and Lois (Pat) Hamerton of Seattle WA; Mother-in-law Maxine Manley of Osage Beach, MO, Brother-in-law David Manley of Phoenix, AZ two sisters-in-law, Jean Heintz of Wichita, KS and Mary Ann (Bob) Gardner of Nevada and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Minnie, and two brothers, Sam and Adrian.

A visitation will be held on Monday, August 12 from 9 - 11 at Chet Ryan Mortuary 708 Fifth Street in Nevada, IA. A celebration of life will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Father Rick Dagit officiating.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in loving memory of Ron for the Glaucoma Foundation.

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Ron and his family.
