Karen Elaine Epstein, 69 of Ames died on Monday, August 5, 2013 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Per her wishes, her body has been cremated and no public services will be held.
Karen was born on June 20, 1944 in Ames to Roy R. and Evelyn A. (Messenbrink) DeMoss. She was a 1963 Ames High School graduate. On August 2, 1964, Karen married Steve E. Epstein in Ames. She was employed at Homeward of Ames. Karen loved animals, birds, and every baby she ever saw.

Karen is survived by her husband Steve Epstein of Ames; two sons, Devon of Ames and Derrick (Amy) of Sioux Falls, SD; four grandchildren Rielly Morgan Epstein, Kennidi Epstein Kellor, Ryker Epstein, and Trevon Epstein; and a brother Roy (Joann) DeMoss Jr. of Ames.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Gary W. DeMoss and a sister Lynn Beach.

A memorial fund has been established in loving memory of Karen at the Ames Animal Shelter.

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Karen and her family.
