Robert "Bob" Spencer Davis, 87, of Asheville died on Friday, July 16, 2010.

A native of Ames, Iowa, he was the son of the late O.W. and Mabel Buchanan Davis. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, John H. Davis and James H. Davis; and a daughter, Elizabeth Jean Davis. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and was an alumnus of Iowa State University where he received his B.S., University of Chicago where he received his M.A., and McCormick Theological where he received his M.Div. Rev. Davis had served as a United Methodist minister and missionary, and was attending Biltmore United Methodist Church in Asheville. Known for his generosity, he did volunteer work for MANNA food bank, CROP, Givens Estate, Habitat for Humanity, and Biltmore United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Ella Jean Woods Davis; sons, Kenneth D. Davis of Mission, KS, John R. Davis of Raleigh, David P. Davis of Carlisle, Ind.; daughter, Margaret Davis-Mintun of Indianapolis, four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
