Dirk W. Rozeboom
August 29, 1961 - March 14, 2013

Dirk William Rozeboom, 51, of Vining, Minnesota (previously of Ames, Iowa) died unexpectedly of natural causes at his cabin on East Battle Lake, Minnesota, March 14, 2013. Dirk was born in Ames, Iowa, on August 29, 1961, to William and Joyce Rozeboom.

Dirk graduated from Ames Senior High School in 1980. He went on to become owner and manager of Whiskey River Bar and Grill until 2010. He then moved to northern Minnesota and worked in the construction industry. Dirk adored his children, Alexandrea and Harley--encouraging them to take advantage of life and all it has to offer. He and the girls fished, walked the woods, sat around the campfire, and watched their favorite show, 'Monk'--all the while laughing and teasing. Dirk loved his family and friends without reserve--he was the "life of the party" and always wore a smile on his face. With his labradors by his side, he appreciated life and nature. He often called his family to share the awesome sunrises and sunsets at the lake. Dirk was a talented cook, always willing to take over the kitchen and make things better than anyone else. He loved to golf, hunt and fish--and fervently supported the Twins, Vikings and Cyclones.

Dirk is survived by his daughters--Alexandrea (14) and Harley (10). He was the youngest of six siblings and is survived by Ken Rozeboom (Deb) of Bangor, Maine; Ted Rozeboom (Debi) of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Anita Vogelzang (Richard) of Rochester, New York; Katy Rice (Butch) of Ames, Iowa; and Julie Wernimont of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Uncle Dirk was loved by his nieces and nephews--Elizabeth, Juliana, Benjamin, Samantha, Heidi, Andrew, Joshua, Erin, Nicolle, and Leah. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Joyce Rozeboom.

The family welcomes family and friends to a gathering to remember Dirk on Saturday, March 23, from 6:00-8:00pm at Hickory Hall in Ames.
