B.M. Howell

Funeral services for B. M. (Chick) Howell were held Saturday October 16 at 1 p.m. from Immanuel Lutheran Church, Story City with Rev. C. A. Gisselquist officiating.

Mrs. Harold Olson, Organist, rendered the special number, "Battle Hymn of the Republic" at the service.

Pall bearers and honorary bearers were member of the Story City American Legion Post No. 59. Burial was in Story City Municipal Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion Post 59.

Burris M. (Chick) Howell, son of John and Sarah Howell was born July 3, 1892 in Davis City, Iowa.

On September 29, 1924 he was united in marriage to Ida B. Luglan.

He was a veteran of World War I. he was employed by the Iowa Department of Transportation in the safety and traffic division until his retirement in 1964. He was active with the American Legion Post 59.

Mr. Howell died at Veterans Hospital, Des Moines, Wednesday, October 13 at the age of 84 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida on Sept. 15, 1976. His parents, three brothers and two sisters also preceded him in death.

He is survived by one son, John Howell, Ocquenoc, Michigan; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; also one sister, Lucia Landis of Weldon, Ia.
