Marjorie E. Olson

Marjorie E. Olson, 84, Story City died of congestive heart failure on Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 2 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Story City with Pastor Don Preston officiating. Burial was in the Story City Cemetery.

Marjorie was born Sept. 14, 1914 in Sherman, Iowa in Hardin County to Arthur and Ilo (Ellsworth) Topp. She married Orlin Olson on Aug. 6, 1935. Marjorie worked in retail sales most of her life. She and Orlin managed Riverbend Golf Course for many years, retiring in 1984. She lived in Hubbard; Rockford, Iowa; Phoenix, Arizona (1957-1959); and Story City since 1959. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Marjorie is survived by her husband; one daughter, Jacqueline and husband Gary Mears of Clearwater, Florida; one sister, Elizabeth Ann Topp of Colorado Springs, Colorado; three grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Orlin Gail Olson; and two sisters, Louise Powers and Phyllis Davis.

A memorial fund has been established in Marjorie's name.
