Selma D. Lee

Selma DoElla Lee, 91, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 27 at 1:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City. Burial was in the Story City Cemetery.

Selma DoElla Lee was born July 14, 1914 in Hamilton County, Iowa to Oney and Malena (Helgoy) Stensland. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Jewell. She received her education at a rural school and Jewell High School.

On Nov. 28, 1935, she was united in marriage to Franklin S. Lee. Six children were born to this union. They farmed in Story County and were members of Zion Lutheran Church of rural Radcliffe until 1971 when they moved to Story City and became members of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Selma was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin; her parents; her sisters, Mabel Egemo, Judith Ford, Agnes Matson and JoElla Anderson Kopp; three brothers, Abel, Bert, and Elmer Stensland.

She is survived by her six children and their spouses, Janet (Ken) Stock of Ankeny, Karen (Terry) Johnson of Omaha, Nebraska, Frank (Jean) Lee of Estero, Florida, Larry (Sandy) Lee of Atlanta, Georgia, Sally (Steve) Davis of Bonita Springs, Florida, and Charles (Donna) Lee of Plano, Texas, thirteen grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Selma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was proud of her family and glorified the Lord in their accomplishments. Many looked to her for advice and encouragement. She will be greatly missed by all.
