Ruth Sophie Lovig
March 4, 1918-July 14, 1996Ruth Sophie Lovig, 78, of Story City died Sunday of complications arising from heart surgery at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services are Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Story City, with the Rev. Rolfe Johnstad officiating. Burial will be in the Story City Cemetery.
Ruth Sophie Lovig was born in Jewell, the daughter of Lewis S. and Louisa (Omvig) Stout. She married Theodore L. Lovig on March 5, 1937. She was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church; Quilted; and the Senior Citizens Choir. Mrs. Lovig was employed at the Story City Hospital in housekeeping for 22 years.
Mrs. Lovig is survived by three sons, Richard Lovig of Norfolk, Neb., Roger Lovig of Ames and Ronald Lovig of Story City; two daughters, Sonja DeBerg of Bloomington, Ill., and Sandra Risdal of rural Roland; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Emma Stout of Webster City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and one brother.
Visitation is Tuesday after 3 p.m. at the Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home in Story City.
