Funeral services for Charles Harold Phillips were held Thursday afternoon, July 26 at 1:30 p.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Story City. Pastor Rudolph H. Anderson officiated at the services. Louise Olson organist, accompanied Harris Twedt, Jr., as he sang.

Casket bearers were Carol Lee, L.C. Reilly, Herbert Nibe, Johnny Egenes, Harlan Kreutner and Elmer Quck. Burial was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery.

Charles Harold Phillips was born April 16, 1909 at Sheldahl, Iowa to Charles and Faye Phillips, and he passed away at his home in Story City on Monday, July 23 at the age of 70. Harold was the oldest of six children and grew to manhood in the Gilbert area.

On May 22, 1937, he was united in marriage to Hazel Hougen of McCallsburg, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They farmed during the early years of their marriage and in 1955 moved to Story City.

He entered the meat-cutting business and was employed by Super Valu Stores until his retirement in 1976. Since then he had been working on a part-time basis.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel and five children: Gretchen Ravenscroft of Scottsdale, Ariz.; Ann Fanske of Poquoson, Va.; Jean Dowd of Ames; John Phillips of Ames; and Robert Phillips of Indianapolis, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; two brothers: Donald of Devils Lake, N.D. and Herbert of Staten Island, N.Y.; and two sisters: Florence Finch of Kelley and Lillian Samson of Ames.
