CARL M. JOHNSON
Funeral services for Carl M. Johnson, 73, were held from the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Story City, March 6 with Rev. C. A. Gisselquist officiating. Burial was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery. Pall bearers were Dan Sweeney, Kevin Johnson, David Johnson, Michael Johnson, Jonathan Johnson and Kenneth Robinson.
He was born April 24, 1901, the son of Sam and Bertha Donhowe Johnson, on a farm near Story City. He and Anna Westwick were married Oct. 15, 1922. They farmed in the Story City area before moving to Story City. Mr. Johnson was employed by the Frette Truck Lines of Story City until his retirement in 1964.
Mr. Johnson was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and was, for a number of terms, Sunday School Superintendent. He died at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines March 3.
He is survived by his wife, Anna; two sons, S. Donald, Story City; Carroll, Slater; a daughter, Mrs. June Roberts, Del Mar, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; five brothers, Milford, Ankeny; Simon, Ogden; Fred, Hampton; Lawrence and Arthur, Ames; and two sisters, Mrs. Lenora Blackfort, Dows; and Mrs. Mabel Henderson, Scotts Bluff, Neb. He was preceded in death by a son, his parents and three brothers.
