JOHN B. JOHNSON

Funeral services for John B. Johnson were held May 2, in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Story City, with the Rev. Harold I. Masted officiating. Burial was at the Story City Municipal Cemetery.

Mr. Johnson, son of B. K. and Martha Johnson, was born on a farm near McCallsburg in 1881. He was baptized and confirmed in the Bergen Lutheran Church north of McCallsburg.

In 1903, he married Selma Ose of McCallsburg. They had six children, Mrs. Olive Liden, Phoenix, Ariz.; Myron, Sterling and Mrs. Joy Tobin, Minneapolis, Minn.; Ferner, Mound, Minn., and a daughter who died in infancy.

He farmed near Dawson, Minn., for some time before moving to Story City, where his wife died in 1931.

In 1940 he married Emma Larson. Mr. Johnson was employed for more than 10 years at Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis.

He died in the Story City Memorial Hospital April 29 at the age of 83.

Survivors include his wife, two daughters, three sons, two sisters, Mrs Sarah Bigness*, Story City, and Mrs. Maggie Henson*, Thompson.

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: John Johnson's two sisters are misnamed in his obituary. Serine "Sarah" Johnson married Andrew Vigness on 20 January 1907 in Hardin County, Iowa. Margrette "Maggie" Johnson married Henry Jensen on 15 October 1908 in Warren Township, Story County, Iowa.
