Obituary

A. R. ERICKSON

Archibald Ritland Erickson, son of the late Ole J. and Carrie Erickson, was born April 14, 1905 and died at his home in Roland Aug. 26. He was 57 years old.

A lifetime resident of Roland he was baptized and confirmed in the Bergen Lutheran Church. In 1927, he married Vernetta Riis in Austin, Minn. They had five children.

He was proprietor of Erickson Funeral Home in Roland for 36 year and retired from the furniture business in 1955.

An active member of the Bergen Lutheran Church, he has served as secretary of the Sunday School, president of the Brotherhood and a member of the Board of Deacons. He has also been a member of the Roland School Board.

Services were held Aug. 30 from the Bergen Lutheran Church with the Rev. Howard M. Lybeck officiating. Burial was at the Roland Cemetery.

Pall bearers were Bennett Hegland, LaVerne Buland, Lloyd Halverson, Orville Twedt, Otis Anderson and Otis Twedt.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Arlene Sampson, Ankeny; four sons, Richard of Mason City, Willard of Traer, Allen of Minneapolis and Owen of Los Angeles; three sisters, Mrs. Selma Knudtson, Ames; Mrs. Ella Peterson, Huntington Park, Califl, and Mrs. Avis Rinehart, Los Angeles, two brothers, Clarence of Cucamonga, Calif., and Reuben, of Roland, and eight grandchildren.
