Rex Hughes Dies,
Services WednesdayNEVADA - Rexford Hughes, 48, well known Story county farmer, died Sunday afternoon at the Story County Hospital where he had been admitted Saturday evening. He had been ill for several months with cancer.
The body will remain at the Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada until 10 o'clock Wednesday morning and then moved to the Hughes home. Prayer service will be held there at 1:30 p.m. followed by the funeral service in the Bergan Lutheran church in Roland at 2 o'clock. Rev. Allen Nelson will officiate.
Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove cemetery in Milford township.
The deceased was born at Kelley, a son of Charles R. and Minnie Hughes. He was married to Edna Godfrey Sept. 3, 1933 at Boone. He had been a resident of Story County since 1936.
Surviving are the wife, Edna, at home, two sons, Dale of Norman, Okla. and Loyd at home; three daughters, Norene, Linda, and Karen at home. He also leaves his father, C. R. Hughes of Story City, a brother Kenneth Hughes and a sister, Mrs. Pat Nolan, both of Story City.
Mr. Hughes was a member of the Nevada Methodist church, Masonic Lodge No. 99, Order of the Eastern Star and of the Roland Kiwanis club.
