Pioneer Woman Passes Away at Home in Story City

Story City, Aug. 13 -- Funeral services for Mrs. Chris Dale, 90, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Theodore Howland here Sunday, will be held Thursday afternoon a 2 o'clock at Immanuel Lutheran church here, following prayer service at 1:30 at the home. Burial will be in the St. Petri church near Gilbert, where her husband is buried. Her pastor, Rev. T. T. Helmark will be in charge.

Mrs. Dale suffered a fractured hip in March and since that time has been bedfast.

She was born in Norway, but with her husband, came to Iowa and located in Story City, shortly after their marriage. After living here for a time, they moved onto a farm near Gilbert, where they continued to make their home until about 23 years ago, when they retired and established their home here.

She is survived y daughters, Mrs. W. O. Smith of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Theodore Howland of Story City, Mrs. Rosa Hixon of Los Angeles and Mrs. Hilma Knopp of Glendale, Calif., and a son Oscar Dale of Lemmon, S. D. She also leaves a number of grandchildren.
