Earl T. Clayberg
March 25, 1907-Sept. 3, 1994

Earl T. Clayberg, 87, of Story City, died Saturday of renal failure at Story City Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were today at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City, with the Rev. Tom Hunt and the Rev. Stephen Anenson officiating. Burial was in the Story City Cemetery.

Earl Clayberg was born in Maxwell to Edward and Florence (Oyler) Clayberg. He married Wanda Lillian Wierson on Oct. 31, 1929, in Webster City. A longtime resident of Story City, he was employed by the Story City Butter Tub for 43 years. He then worked for the Ames School District and was a carpenter until retiring in 1976. In 1981, he was baptized by the Rev. Orville Sanderson at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, of which he was a member. He had been a volunteer fireman in Story City for many years, and was very active with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program until the time of his death.

He is survived by three sons, Butch Clayberg and Stoney Clayberg, both of Story City, and David Clayberg of Iowa Falls; two daughters, Lois Christian of Story City, and Sandra South of Sterling, Colo.; two brothers, Lowell Clayberg of Marshalltown; 27 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a daughter, two brothers and four sisters.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Story City Retired Senior Volunteer Program, or to the Story City Memorial Hospital. Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home, Story City, was in charge of arrangements.
