Randall “Randy” Goettsch, 56, of Maxwell, passed away Monday, February 25, 2013, at Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown.
Randy was born August 30, 1956, in Iowa City to Carroll and Colleen (Klein) Goettsch. Randy was united in marriage to Virginia Palmisano on September 22, 2012, in Maxwell. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Local #234 Union of which he was a member. Randy enjoyed working in his shop, fishing, splitting firewood, and snowmobiling. He was an avid NASCAR fan and liked restoring cars.
Randy is survived by his wife, Virginia of Maxwell; his sons, Christopher Goettsch of Zearing, and Zachary Goettsch of Jessup, GA; his daughters, Jessica (Bill) McKusker of Marengo, IA and Bethany Dolph of Des Moines; his brother, Danny (Lorree) Goettsch of Cedar Rapids, IA; his sisters, Dona Venable of Hope Mills, NC and Diane Forrest of Ankeny; his grandchildren, Makinzie, David, Cecilia, and Faith Dolph, Mason McKusker, Rowyn Goettsch and Cassidy Clair; his step-sons, Paul Drehs of Charlotte, NC and Davey (Rhapsody) Drehs of St. Petersburg, FL; his step-daughter, Christina (Andy) Stollmack of Indian Trail, NC; and his step-granddaughters, Stella Drehs and Peggy Jane Stollmack. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his grandson, Logan Goettsch.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2013, at Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell, 422 First Street. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, also at the funeral home. Interment will be 12 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, at the Zion Cemetery north of Millersburg, Iowa.
Memorial contributions may be made to ALS Association or Iowa River Hospice.
