Obituary for Vera Mae Meyers
Vera Mae Meyers was born May 1, 1919 in Elkader, Iowa to Erik E. Aarvig and Pearl Mae Clark. She married LeRoy W. Meyers on August 26, 1939. She lived in Story City since 1940. Vera was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Jewell. She worked 18 ½ years at Bourne’s in Ames. Vera enjoyed gardening and flowers and kept busy doing crafts, crocheting, making china dolls, and painting ceramics. Her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren were very special to her.
Vera Mae Meyers passed away February 13, 2013, at the age of 93 years at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.
She is survived by her children: daughter, Deb Koester of Fort Dodge; two sons, William C. Meyers (Remie) of Webster City and John J. Meyers (Joyce) of Story City; 11 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; and sister, Janice Carpenter of Story City.
She is preceded in death by: her parents, husband, daughter Patricia Turner and son-in-law Dick Turner; grandson, Tim Meyers, brother Clark E. Aarvig and sister Iva Nell Smith.
