Obituary for Maybl Gertrude Huston
Maybl Gertrude Olson Huston, cherished mother, wife and friend, died peacefully on January 31, 2013, in Rochester, Minnesota. Born and raised in Ames, Maybl went on to attend Grinnell College and receive a BA degree in Education from National College of Education in Cranston, Illinois. She left teaching in Lakewood, Ohio, to return to Ames to become a secretary and partner to her father, Oscar Olson, in his new business, Olson Manufacturing Company. Maybl married Dean Huston on June 4, 1950. In addition to raising three fine sons, she packaged nearly every `Ames Lettering Guide` ever produced by Olson Manufacturing. She was active in Northminster Presbyterian Church, PEO Chapter HO, and Youth and Shelter Services.

Maybl is survived by sons, David (Cindy) of Shawnee, Kansas, George (Jean Murray) of Rochester, Minnesota, and Steve Huston of North Liberty, Iowa; grandchildren Carolyn (Fitzpatrick), Jessica, Adam, and Sara Huston, and great-granddaughter Catherine (Fitzpatrick). She was preceded in death by her husband and true love, Dean Huston, sister Louise (Wright), and grandson Mark Huston.

Memorials are preferred to the Iowa Heart Center of Ames, Youth and Shelter Services of Ames, or other organization of your choice.
