ARTHUR KNUTSON
Funeral services for Arthur Knutson, age 80, Story City, were held Tuesday afternoon, November 20 at two o'clock at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor C. A. Gisselquist officiating.
Mrs. Harold Oldon was organist. Soloists were Mr. and Mrs. Thelmer Swenson who sang, "Blessed Assurance" and "Burdens are Lifted at Calvary." Burial was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery. Pall bearers were Dennis Knutson, David Knutson, Steven Knutson, Jeffrey Knutson, Ronald Knutson and Edward Miller.
Arthur Knutson was born to Jacob and Annie Knutson near Radcliffe, on December 14, 1892 where he lived until entering the military service of World War I. He was United in marriage to Alma Skogerboe in 1921, and they farmed northeast of Randall until 1945.
They then moved to Ames and later to Boulder, Colo., coming to Story City in 1964 where he resided until his death. He passed away at the Story City Memorial Hospital on Saturday, November 17.
Surviving are his wife, Alma; four sons and one daughter: Philip Knutson of Westminister, and Mrs. Lois Davis of Fort Morgan, Colo., Stanley Knutson of Milan, Ill., Luverne Knutson and Sterling Knutson of Ames; sevteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Bertha Handeland of Story City. His parents, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Mr. Knutson and his wife Alma celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Story City in December of 1972.
