Julius Knutson, a well known citizen of Story City, passed away suddenly Thursday morning, December 17, 1959 from Coronary Thrombosis.
He was th eson of Knut and Gunild Halvorson (Knutson) pioneers of Story County. He was born January 29, 1885 on a farm south of Story City and passed away at the age of 74 years, 10 months and 12 days.
He was baptized and confirmed in the St. Petri Lutheran Church.
He was married to Minnie Opstvedt June 15, 1911 at Roland, Ia, in the Bergen Lutheran Church.
William Starkey came to make his home with them at the age of 9 years.
Julius had lived his entire life in and around Story City with the exception of four years he farmed in Hayfield, Minn. He retired from the farm in December of 1936, and entered the clothing store which had been purchased the preceeding year. He greeted everyone with a welcome hand and sunny smile. He retired from the store in 1956 after serving twenty years in the clothing business, from which he gained a host of friends in the surrounding community.
He leaves to mourn his death, his wife Minnie, son, William Starkey, one brother, Ole of the County Home at Nevada, other relatives and many friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, six brothers, one passing away in infancy, and two sisters.
