Blanche Johnson

Blanche Johnson, 91, of Story City died Friday, March 19, 2004 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 23 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City. Burial was in the Story City Cemetery.

Blanche Orvella (Hanson) Johnson was born Dec 2, 1912, south of Stratford to David and Bertha (Enderson) Hanson. She married Leslie S. Johnson on Oct 12, 1932 at her parents home. To this union were born three sons.

Blanche was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran and Immanuel Lutheran Church. She will be remembered by her friends and relatives for her acts of kindness. She spent her last 3 1/2 years a Stratford Rehabilitation and Care Center in Stratford.

She is survived by her three sons, Marvin and his wife Mary Jo of Stratford, Darrell and his wife Linda of Omaha, Nebraska, and Rodney and his wife Judy of Cedar Falls; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Gladys Williams of Jewell, Irene Alvestad of Gladbrook and Illa Mae Barrington of Muscatine; and a brother, Donald Hanson of Roland.

Blanche was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Aug. 4, 1992; and three sisters, Elaine Olson, Betty Jane Tegland, and Bernice Hove.
