Erma Leona Armburg
March 16, 1928 - January 13, 2013

Erma Leona Coffman Armburg, 84, died on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at the Story County Medical Center Senior Care in Nevada. Funeral services will be held at Stevens Memorial Chapel 607 28th St., Ames, on Wednesday, January 16 at 11:00 am with burial to follow at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens, rural Nevada. The family will receive friends for an hour prior to the service.

Erma was born March 16, 1928 near Story City to Larry and Grace (Denekas) Coffman. She attended school in Story City and enjoyed a long and productive career as the Assistant Director of Housekeeping at Mary Greeley Medical Center where she retired in 1990. Erma was a member of the Nevada Memorial Lutheran Church.

Erma taught her children her solid work ethic. She is remembered as being a sharp dresser who loved people, was witty and never said an unkind thing about anyone. She loved chocolate, Pepsi, the color purple and gambling.

Erma is survived by her five children, Ronald Wierson of Story City, Ray (Jan) Wierson of Davenport, Claudia (Duane) Anderson of Madrid, Mary (Bob) Dyar of Ankeny and Diane (Kenny) Nichols of Colo; seven grandchildren, Scott Wierson of Davenport, Jennifer (Lee) Smith of Dubuque, Jeff (Kate) Wierson of West Des Moines, Marsha (Don) Holub of Ankeny, Tammy (Brian) Mahlendrof of Omaha, Jason (Courtney) Belz of Kansas City and Joshua Belz of Miami; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her long time companion, Larry Dobson, sister Helen Thompson and brother Leonard Coffman.

A Celebration of Life concert will be performed by Ray and Scott Wierson at the Story County Medical Center Senior Care in Nevada at 2 pm following the committal service. As a show of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to the family to go towards the purchase at a later date of a memorial bench at Hickory Grove Park in Erma's honor.
