Richard Longnecker
March 03, 1929 - December 30, 2012

Richard Longnecker, 83, of Cambridge, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012, at the Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House in Des Moines.

Richard was born March 3, 1929, to Morris and Inez (Owen) Longnecker. He graduated from Cambridge High in 1946, and went on to serve in the United States Army 24th Division Infantry during the Korean Conflict. On December 18, 1972, Richard was united in marriage to Linda Patterson in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Richard was a farmer and a member of the Cambridge American Legion Post #233, and a lifetime member of the VFW.

Richard is survived by his wife, Linda of Cambridge; his children, Nicole Longnecker of Houston, TX, Micky (Pam) Longnecker of Greenville, NC, Shelley (Billy) Fowler of Greenville, NC, and Tina (Robin) Saleeby of Raleigh, NC; and seven grandchildren: Emily, Claire, Brandon, Blake, Robb, Alexa and Ashton. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one daughter, Kimberly.

Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at the Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, January 3, 2013, also at the funeral home with burial to follow in the Cambridge Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Taylor House Hospice or the Cambridge Fire Department.
