Maylo Evelyn Nervig

August 7, 1907 - January 4, 2013
Slater, Iowa

Maylo Evelyn Clark was born August 7, 1907 in Slater, IA. Her parents were Anna Marie and Clarence Clark. She was second to the oldest of seven children.

She went on to Business College in Des Moines and later got a job at Iowa State University in Ames as a secretary.

On June 16, 1928 she married Morrill Nervig, where they lived a short time in Ames. During the Great Depression they moved back to Slater. They had two sons, Paul and Clark. Clark lives in
Slater, Paul lives in Simi Valley, CA.

Maylo worked 17 years for the Slater Creamery as a bookkeeper. Maylo and Morrill owned the Slater Conoco for twelve years, where she continued her bookkeeping skills.

Maylo enjoyed doing her excellent handwork. She has made many cross stitched tablecloths and is very handy with a crochet hook. She has made many afghans for her family.

She was an excellent baker of pies, cinnamon rolls, whole wheat bread and kringla. She would bake every week.

Maylo has been a lifetime member of the Slater United Methodist Church. Some of the positions Maylo has held at the church include Sunday school teacher, treasurer, United Methodist Women President.

Maylo Nervig, 105, of Slater, passed away Jan. 4, 2013.

She is survived by her children: Clark (Sigrun) Nervig of Slater and Paul (Pauline) Nervig of Simi Valley, CA; five grandchildren, Andy Nervig, Brian Nervig, Dennis (Lisa) Nervig, DeAnn (Roger) Romer, Ann Marie (Don) Catus; eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: parents, husband, three brothers: Ralph (Hazel) Clark, Marshall (Mary) Clark, and Robert (Charlotte) Clark; four sisters: Bessie (Infant) Oriett Clark, Jessie Mae (Larry) Skortman, and Miriam (Dale) Clark.

Maylo will always be an inspiration to her family.
