Judy Ann Herrin, 69 passed away at the Madrid Home on December 25, 2012.

Judy was born on September 8, 1943 in Cherokee, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Ruby Steffen. She grew up on a farm near Linn Grove, Iowa. Judy married her high school sweetheart, Darrell Herrin on December 16, 1962 in Royal, Iowa. Following graduation from the National Business College in Sioux City in 1962, they started a family settling in Slater where they raised their four children. She was an active member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she served on various committees and boards.
Judy treasured time spent with family, friends and her dog, Maggie. She enjoyed quilting with friends at the Ankeny Area Quilters Guild, gardening, and sharing new adventures with friends, especially when the men were away on their annual fishing trips.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby and Harold Steffen and her brothers Jim and Tom Steffen.
Judy will be remembered by her husband of 50 years, Darrell; brother Jerry (Donna), sisters-in-law Polly and Mary, her children Dan (Shelley) Jeff (Colleen), Stacy (Alex) and Holli; and her grandchildren Renee, Emily, Marissa, Julia, Jacob, Noah, Grace, Morgan, Evan, Isaac and Mia.
The family of Judy would like to thank all her friends who spent time with her and sent cards during the progression of her illness. Special gratitude to her quilting friends who finished numerous unfinished quilt projects. Also, many thanks to the nurses and staff at the Madrid home for their continuous loving care she received. Our hearts were all touched with the love and support shown by so many.
