Charles Louis Shipton, born on February 5, 1927 in Clermont, Iowa, passed away at age 85 on December 2, 2012 in Nevada, Iowa.

Charles was born to parents John and Lenore (Oldag) Shipton. He graduated from Clermont High School and served in the U.S. Navy. He married Loretta Vagts on May 14, 1955 in Eldorado, Iowa, where they made their home. Charles retired as parts manager from the John Falb Company in 1994 after being employed by the Falb family for 47 years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling, and volunteering at the Good Sam Home in West Union, Iowa. He moved to Central Iowa in 2010 after the passing of his wife of 53 years.

Charles is proceeded in death by his parents, wife Loretta, and brother Wayne.

Charles is survived by his son Steven (Debra) Shipton of Collins, Iowa. He has 5 grandchildren: Daniel (Abbie) Shipton of Des Moines, Iowa, Jennifer Shipton of Chicago, Illinois, Scott (Mellany) Shipton of Chicago, Illinois, Leslie Olson of Collins, Iowa, and Ryan (Ashley) Etnier of Ames, Iowa. He also has 4 great-grandchildren: Charlie, Alex, Emma, and Harper. Charles is also survived by two brothers, Frank Shipton of Wisconsin and Oran Shipton of Florida.

A visitation will be held at the United Methodist Church in Collins Iowa on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 from 5-7pm.

A visitation will also be held at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Eldorado, Iowa on Thursday, December 6, 2012 from 5-7pm.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 10:30am at St Peters Lutheran Church in Eldorado, Iowa. Interment to follow at St. Peters Lutheran Cemetery in Eldorado, Iowa.
