Mary E. Brown, 77, of Ames passed away December 7, 2012.

Mary was born Dec. 20, 1934, in Ames, IA., to Clark and Hazel (Stone) Catteell. She married Billy Brown March 22, 1970, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Mary was a graduate of Ames High School and a lifelong resident of Ames. She was a dedicated Iowa State Cyclone fan. She spent her working years as a housekeeper for two sororities in Ames. In her younger days she was an avid bowler and roller skater. She also enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels. After retirement, she worked as an election official and, along with her husband Billy, worked at local race tracks, spent time at Prairie Meadows, and enjoyed playing cards and spending time with friends and family.

She is survived by five children, Richard (Carol) Brown, of Nevada, Mike (Cindy) Templeton, of Boone, Mark (Janet) Templeton, of Story City, Chris (Mike) Carnelia, of Overland Park, Kan., and Mona Clark, of Houston; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Velma Fleming, of Alleman; and one brother, Ken (Colleen) Brown, of Stanton.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Memorials may be directed towards Mary Greeley Medical Center Foundation- Israel Family Hospice House-Strathman Endowment.
