From Nevada Representative December 27, 1882

J. B. Jennings, recorder of Marshall County, died very suddenly last Wednesday morning. He received a paralytic stroke at his office the evening previous and remained in an unconscious condition until the time of his death. Mr. J. was a brother of Mrs. J. G. Weatherby and Mrs. J. M. Mehan formerly residents of Nevada. He leaves a wife and little daughter. The Time Republican closes an appreciative sketch of his career as a soldier, teacher and county official with these well merited words: "A quiet, conscientious worker, honorable and obliging to a remarkable degree, he won and held the unbounded respect and esteem of all our people and of all with whom he cam in contact."
