BORN: March 22, 1929
DIED: October 29, 2012
LOCATION: Ames, IowaKenneth Max Kelley was born March 22, 1929 near Braddyville, Iowa to Ora Cecil and Elizabeth F. (Smith) Kelley. He entered into rest October 29, 2012 at Israel Hospice House in Ames, Iowa at the age of 83.
He was a graduate of Clearmont High School. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1951 and served until 1955. He married Joan Randall and five children were born to this union. He farmed in the Clearmont and Shenandoah area until 1976. They divorced in 1979. Ken worked for the Paint Crew and Materials Department and retired from the Iowa DOT in 1994 after 15 years.
Ken married Nadine (Boe) Moreland in 1988 at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They lived in the Ames area. He enjoyed traveling, flowers and playing Bingo. His greatest enjoyments were his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Preceding Ken were his parents, his brothers: Burman and Virgil, sister-in-law Ruth and his infant son David Lyle.
He is survived by his wife Nadine; daughter Patty and husband Reese of Marshall, Texas, son Norman of Casper Wyoming, son Curt of Essex, Iowa and daughter Lori of Shenandoah, Iowa; five grandchildren: Michelle, Brandy, Darren and wife Ally, Kaleb and Kaitlyn; three great grandchildren: Donovan Max, Steven Ty and Delany Elizabeth; step-son Brian Moreland and wife Jen and daughter Hayden of Portland, Oregon; step-grandson Gavin Fowler of Ames, IA; sister-in-law Betty Kelley of Clearmont, IA and many nieces, nephews and friends.
